Charles Teo was awarded three times in the Hong Kong CASH Song Writers Quest in year 2002-05. Graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 1999, majoring in Musical Theatre with full scholarship. Received a distinguished award in Malaysia on National Electone Music Festival.
Charles was invited as Music Director for <LOUIE CASTRO'S 30th CELEBRATION CONCERT> in year 2009-10. In 2008, he composed the theme song for an animation picture, Blue Elephant by THE WEINSTEIN COMPANY. As a musical performer, he has played many major roles in musical such as <Smokey Joe's Cafe>, <Impression Suzie Wong>, <Wild Wild Rose>, <Teresa Tang>, <Lady Macbeth>, <The sound of music>, <Pygmalion>, <The battle of love> and <Top Hat> touring local and overseas’ theatre. In year 2017 and 2019, he created <Man in the Mirror>, an original jukebox musical featuring Michael Jackson’s music and dance. An excerpt of the successful production was performed for the televised National Day celebrations at the Hong Kong Coliseum. He also performed his version of MJ with Nancy Sit (家燕姐) at the Genting Highland in his native Malaysia.
In 2016, he extended his service to Africa by creating an original musical, AZIBO’S VOYAGE for orphanage children in Malawi supported by the Amitofo Care Centre. He is also a regular artistic director for EXCEL, HKAPA, directing seasonal shows at the Hong Kong International Airport since 2013 including the 20th Anniversary Celebration.
